Mise - en - scène
MISE - EN - SCÈNE
STRANGER THINGS
TASK 1:
Costume: At the start we see a person wearing a lab coat this can connote that this is a sci-fi like film/show
Lighting: During the whole thing we see dim light and a dark aspect to the show this can connote that the show is dark eerie and scary and the fog also gives the viewer a feeling of mystery and curiosity of how the story will progress
Setting: The setting shows us a neighbourhood at night the atmosphere seems foggy and there is little light for us to see this can connote the idea of the eeriness of the film and how its dangerous and mystirious as it limits our vision
Props: Some of the props we see in the show is for example the bikes, the bikes can connote the idea that they are adventures or like to explore
EXTENSION:
Generally as we go about through the extract we see how lighting and setting is used to indicate moments of suspense such as when the teenagers drive through the neighbourhood late at night on their bikes its here we see a type of eeriness and how the foggy atmosphere which limits our sight makes the scene feel more dangerous
2. In the opening scene we are brought to a building which seems to be a lab. We see a man dressed in a white coat try to escape from something though we never really get to see what chases him, as the scene progresses foward eventually the man tries to escape via and elevator but is ultimatly caught by something we don't know.
The opening scene on its own suggest the show will be highly base on 90's styled sci-fi films and generally a more scientific fantasy feel.
3. Some of the key ideas the article speaks of that are to do with Mise - en - scène are stuff like the characters costumes and hairstyles which are made to look more 1980's inspired
